2010 is the Year Of The Business Blog
With social media marketing starting to get a full head of steam, 2010 will be the year of the business blog. Why? Blogs provide a simple yet effective means of communicating with others – they also provide a great link into the arena of social media marketing.
Twitter and Facebook are two sites that allow blog content to appear. In the case of Twitter, it’s Tweet with details and a link to a freshly published post. With Facebook, you can have excerpts of your posts (teasers if you like) added to your pages.
When engaging with others on social sites and forums, you rarely get asked if you have a web site. You will often get asked if you have a blog. Say no, but I have a web site and people close up. The rationale is that web site says commercial while blog says social. A business blog is still a commercial property, but the word ‘blog’ removes some of the commercialization sting.
Blogs are easy to establish, easy to maintain and provide an outlet for a wide range of information – information that your customers are often looking for. Whether it is new product info, how-to instructions, or simply product descriptions, it is all information that is generally very unique yet in demand. Search engines love this sort of information. The fact it is very unique makes it all the more valuable as far as a search engine is concerned.
